Swim Team

The Bittersweet Barracuda Swim Team Program is limited to the first 100 swimmers who register. Members of the Bittersweet Swimming and Tennis Association (BSTA) and RETURNING 2022 Swim Team Members may begin early registration now through May 15, 2023.  Placement on the team is not guaranteed. Non-members may fill out their forms  at any time and the paperwork will be processed on May 16, 2023.

 Swimmers 6-18 are welcome to participate. No swim team experience is necessary. However, each child must have reached level 4 or beyond of the American Red Cross Swim Instruction classes OR at the discretion of the swim team coaches and manager. Those 8 and under must be able able to swim at least 25 meters (one length of the pool) unassisted. Those 9 and over must be able to swim 50 meters (two lengths of the pool) unassisted. Swimmers practice based on age and the coaches and coordinators reserve the right to place swimmers on teams as needed. We strongly recommend a physical exam prior to beginning the season.

Registration and Liability Waivers for each swimmer must be filled out and turned in no later than Monday, May 29, 2023. Swimmers will not be allowed to participate until these forms have been completed. Registration Dues must be paid no later than Friday, June 2, 2023, if dues are not paid by this time, swimmers will not be allowed to participate in practice or meets until the dues have been paid.

• 2023 Fees: BSTA Members: $95 per swimmer  

• Non-Members: $130 per swimmer

• 2023 Volunteer Requirement: Volunteer Twice at meets OR $200 per family

• 2023 Fundraising Commitment: $50 per family (or participation in fundraiser)

 

Fundraising Commitment: $50 per family OR participation in Eileen's Cookie Dough Fundraiser. This involves selling a minimum of 6 tubs of cookie dough. Fundraiser commitment must be submitted before swimmer(s) will be entered in the Conference Championship meet (held mid-July) 

 

Volunteer Commitment- In order to have a successful swim team season we rely on the help of our volunteers. Each family is required to commit to either volunteering twice OR $200 per family Volunteer Dues. Volunteer Commitment must be completed by Friday, July 7, 2023. If this has not been met, an invoice will for $200 will be sent and the invoice is due Sunday, July 9, 2023 at 5:00pm. If the invoice is not paid by Sunday, July 9, 2023 at 5:00pm, swimmer(s) will not be allowed to participate in practice or meets until that invoice is paid. 

 

This year we will be sending an invoice for all swimming fees and fundraising dues. A separate volunteer invoice will be sent if volunteer requirement is not met. ​

 Swimmers practice based on their age as of 5/15/2023. Practice begins on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

Normal Practice Times:

13+ 6:30am-8:00am

9-12 7:45 am-9:00 am

8 and Under 8:45 am-9:30 am

Parent Meeting will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023 6:30pm-7:30pm at the Farr Library.
